Meet our Realtimer Shiela Keogh! 👋 Shiela is our People & Culture Leader in Dublin.
What do you do in Realtime?
I am responsible for bringing people and business together to create that little extra magic! This includes social nights, wellness days, charity days, team catch-ups, internal recruiting, all things HR and of course, keeping Colm O’Mara on his toes!
Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I done Karate and Gymnastics for years as a child, I’ve done competitions in both but gave them up before my Leaving Cert, but I do still love practising cartwheels and handstands. My Dad taught the Karate classes in Clones, but to say I use to spend more time thinking of ways to get out of going is an understatement, which explains never getting past orange belt!!
Can you describe your career journey so far?
Enjoyable little roller coaster, my first job was in a small Newsagents back home, after moving to the big smoke for college I worked in a shoe shop, then the port before doing a course in my favourite hobby – makeup, that took me into Inglot and Charlotte Tilbury before Sue referred me for my dream job in Realtime! 😉 I’ve had quite varied jobs throughout my career and wouldn’t change a thing as each experience moulded me into the person I am today.
What is the best thing about working at Realtime?
Definitely the people, such a wonderful group of humans that inspire me and each other every day! Everyone is so different and brings great qualities to the team. We are like a big family who share all the highs and lows equally and no matter what your role your voice is heard.
What is one piece of career advice you could give?
Never be afraid to change careers and take chances, if it doesn’t scare you – it isn’t big enough! Once you find your dream job give it your all and you will reap the rewards.
How do you stay motivated?
For me staying active keeps me motivated – healthy body healthy mind and all that, I do CrossFit 5-6 times a week which really keeps me in a good head space, I go for long walks with my dog Nelson and enjoy yoga from time to time. I think keeping a good balance between eating healthy (easier said than done!!) and exercising really helps the with daily grind and hakuna matata!
