Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Systems Administrator with a specialism in Microsoft technologies to design, implement, support, and maintain sophisticated, high-quality infrastructure solutions. As the primary liaison between the Cyber Security Project Team and IT Operations, you will lead security-focused infrastructure projects and architectural enhancements. Your role will be pivotal in aligning strategic security initiatives with established infrastructure standards, ensuring scalability, resilience, and robust security within a critical 24/7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for Cyber Security projects, delivering infrastructure-related security initiatives successfully.
  • Design and develop complex, secure Microsoft infrastructure environments, incorporating high-availability and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Manage vulnerability assessments and security patching, ensuring critical components adhere to SLAs through proactive performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with application teams to guarantee secure traffic flows and resolve escalated technical issues promptly.
  • Produce comprehensive audit documentation and recommend improvements to enhance team processes and performance.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and undertake essential system administration tasks to maintain the health of the environment.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of five years senior-level experience working with Microsoft technologies within a large enterprise setting.
  • Certifications: MCSA, MCP and/or CCNA qualifications are required.
  • Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of Windows Server (2019/2022/2025), Active Directory, Group Policy, network protocols, backup solutions, and Windows 11.
  • Desirable: Experience with VMware, Linux (RedHat/OEL), and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and REST APIs.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills, with proven experience in adhering to stringent process control methodologies (e.g. ITIL).
